METROPOLITAN NATIONAL SACCO was established in 1977 as a deposit-taking SACCO and is licensed and regulated by the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA). 

Their membership is drawn from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), government ministries, parastatals, Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), the National Police Service, public and private universities, colleges, academies, and the private sector, among others.
They are ranked the 6th largest SACCO in asset base nationally as per the SASRA report of 2018, currently with an asset base of KES 14.8 billion and a total membership of over 100,000.

They aim to empower members financially through the provision of unique, progressive, and innovative services ranging from, but not limited to, competitive savings products, flexible loans, and investment vehicles.
