The initial name of the SACCO was Sterling Employees Savings and Credit Society Limited. It was formed by former employees of Sterling Health Ltd which later merged with other companies to form GlaxoSmithKline Ltd whose employees are the current members of the SACCO.
The society was registered in 1980.
It acquired its current name GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Co-operative Savings and Credit Society on 12th January, 2006.
The SACCO opened its common bond to allow members of the public to join in the year 2022.
