Eruko is a multipurpose SACCO based in Turkana County, Kenya. Its members are predominantly farmers. They farm on the Aloe Turkanesis (Aloe vera), Moringa tree, pasture production, and beekeeping for commercial use.
The SACCO started as a Voluntary Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) through the conventional table banking system in 2016 by four founding members.
They were registered as a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society on September 10, 2020, and are currently in the process of registering the organisation as a multi-purpose SACCO.
The SACCO is experiencing rapid growth through group memberships. These groups are primarily composed of youth and women who are set to drive the growth of Aloe Turkanesis, Moringa plants, and pasture production for processing at the plant owned by the SACCO in Kakuma, Turkana West.
