Kanisa Regulated Non-Withdrawable Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. (“Kanisa Regulated N-WDT SACCO” or “Kanisa SACCO”) is a registered, community-based non-withdrawable deposit-taking cooperative society founded in 1981 on the principle of enhancing members’ economic foundation by encouraging and promoting a culture of saving and prudent borrowing. The SACCO is licensed to undertake back-office savings activities where members come together to save, pool together their resources, and borrow to develop themselves. Kanisa SACCO is regulated by the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).
Though the conception of its establishment began much earlier, the society was founded formally by the staff of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) in 1981. Since then, it has grown a wide and strong financial base and attracted membership from more than 20 institutions, both faith-based and non-faith-based. In addition, it has also attracted many individual contributors.
