In Summary
Wakulima Commercial SACCO Limited, formerly Wakulima Dairy SACCO Limited, was registered on September 24, 2003, under the Ministry of Co-operative Development and Marketing with the objective of offering financial assistance to dairy farmers in the entire Mukurwe-Ini region.
The SACCO began its operation in March 2004 with an interim committee of seven members who were later confirmed to office in February 2005, offering both front office (FOSA) and back office services (FOSA), with the majority shareholders being the dairy farmers of Wakulima Dairy Company Limited. (MWDL), formerly Mukurwe-ini Dairy Self Help Group.
The majority of shareholders and members of Mukurwe-ini Wakulima Commercial SACCO Limited consist of dairy farmers from the larger Nyeri County region and also from other nearby counties.
Currently, the SACCO has over 15,000 active members derived from dairy farmers, coffee farmers, salaried people, and other sectors of the economy.
The SACCO has an asset base of over KES 800 million and a KES 750 million loan portfolio. The society strives to be one of the best financial institutions in the region.
