The SACCO was registered on July 5, 2006, with a membership of 57 (all men) under the name of Shauri Umoja SACCO Society Ltd.. 
Members were drawn from the Shauri location in Nyandarua North District.
In the year 2009, the members decided to change the name to Nyahururu Umoja SACCO Society Ltd., and this was affected on August 21, 2009.

The SACCO was rebranded as VIKTAS Sacco to enable them to grow without limitation as of 2016.
Membership has grown over the years to the current 7000 members for the fully paid-up members and 4500 for the non-fully paid-up members.
Members consist of farmers, business people, institutional employees, self-help groups, and SACCOs, among others.

The SACCO’s membership is drawn from all over Nyandarua and Laikipia counties and other major towns within the Republic of Kenya and the diaspora.
