Stake SACCO was registered in 1994 by employees of the Teachers Service Commission in then Kuria District. It has its headquarters in Kehancha Town at Stake Kenya SACCO Plaza. The main activities/services offered are BOSA and FOSA services. The Society has 6,681 members. The membership continues to rise because of teachers’ recruitment by TSC and marketing efforts by the SACCO.
Although most of the members come from teachers under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), other members are drawn from employees of the TSC Secretariat, Office of the President, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and Ministry of Education, County government and self-employed members. The society has had stable management and has remained very successful in its operations. The core business of the society is to provide a savings avenue to members and advance loans to them.
